Federal regulators have cited a Pittsburgh area metal fabricating company for alleged safety and health violations and proposed fines totaling $127,200.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration began an investigation of Sabina Manufacturing in Lawrence on May 22 following a complaint, the Labor Department said in a statement.
The company was cited for allegedly lacking proper machine guards to protect employees from injury. Other violations reflected a deficient hazardous energy control system and a lack of record keeping.
The serious violations pertain to Sabina’s failure to provide proper training for employees operating power presses and other equipment, OSHA said.
The company employs 71 people.
