Lawyers are the only profession not subject to outside oversight. If an insurance agent, accountant, doctor, real estate person, etc was in the same situation, LAWYERS would hold them accountable. But LAWYERS refuse to hold LAWYERS accountable.

“mitigating circumstances”.”and similar, less harsh punishment, for other lawyers involved in wrong doing”.
So this means if enough lawyers are wrong doers they all only get their hands slapped. No other profession (except politicans)would get away with this.
The bar associations and so called regulators are disgusting.

The double standard is alive and well. Can you believe scum like this are called “officers of the court”? They should be held to a higher standard than the average person by virtue of their position. Decisions like this are the reason decent people have lost respect for the law.

This just proves that those slime balls are in bed with each other. But, hey, at least the lost pants judge got kicked out!! Just read that.

    Hey Trav,

I don’t know where you hail from, but you mentioned a salient point – politicians. I’m from the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, where 90+% of our legislators are members of the bar. We don’t elect our judges, they’re appointed and have to be approved by (you guessed it) the legislature! And remember, we’re a one party state. The story might be big news in NH, but it wouldn’t even be noticed here. See you in NC.

before it gets any better. Remember when thoughtful Americans discussed tort reform? Not anymore.

I agree with everything already said and feel there is a double standard for attorneys. No doubt that if an insurance agent did something similar they would be without a license ASAP. If this guy was to trying a defraud once what is to say it would never happen again. They should also require him to inform every client he deals with that his license has been suspended and the reason why. Also in all his future advertisements it should be mentioned.

How insulting….the poor thing had personal and financial worries… well join the rest of us working stiffs! That does not mean that we can lie, cheat and steal… what if it had been a lawyer who was the victim and not the cause…
