I didn’t notice this until the second read – a STATE-leased Mercedes-Benz? Since when can the state afford luxury autos? Can’t the judge afford his own car with his six-figure salary? Something fishy in the judicial system here.

Can’t you just see the new shingle these two lawyers would hang out there – their motto would be “How to Milk the System”

Anytime a judge is indicted they should be removed from the bench. If they are cleared they can be reinstated. It looks bad to have a sitting judge that has to take a break to go next door and defend themself.

A 5 mph accident and the carrier paid him over $400k?

Didn’t they smell a rat from the get-go?

Good point you make, lastbat. Temporarily remove the judge from the bench until the investigation is over!

Maybe the population IS getting more stupid, or less educated or more corrupt or less ethical or something. Or maybe we just hear about all the bad stuff so much that we get the impression we’re in a handbasket rapidly heading south. I don’t know.

Did this Superior Court Judge preside over any auto tort claims? If so, they should look at his decisions and consider reopening those cases.

apparently someone smelled a rat because they hired a subrosa investigator to follow him around. if you get a request from a judge on his official letterhead i suspect you would pay up without question and then do exactly what the insurance company did-investigate. good job well done claim staff. keep up the good work.

I just read on law.com that the judge has been suspended. No word on whether with pay or no, but at least he’s not trying cases while under indictment. He says he will not contest the ruling. Finally, some sense in the world!
