Substitute Governer Blanco and Ray Nagin for President Bush and Fema director Brown. They are the ones who let down their own people. How they could do what they did and not resign public office only shows what a payday it must be to politic in Louisiana. Milk chocolate city and all.

George Bush and Mike Brown were prepared to deal with storm aftermath in Florida in 2003 and 2004 just in time for the elections; but looked like they had no plan whatsoever in dealing with Katrina which weather forecasters for days were saying that the storm had F5 potential. Even though it ended up being an F3-F4 power and even though the levees broke it seemed that they had no plan in place on dealing with the storm at all. The finger pointing began even as the storm was making landfall. Everyone in FEMA was citing jurisdiction as why they didn’t do jack. You can’t pin it all on Mike Brown but it was a complete organizational disaster. Federal Emergency Management couldn’t have managed their way to the bathroom.

When I started as an underwriter in 1961, the construction industry started using this blown-on junk, The “old” guys then called it garbage. They were right then, and they were right on 9-11-2001.The stuff is no damn good! Because after the cable guy and all the other peeps doing things in the inner shell of a building get done, a lot of that stuff is knocked off exposing the steel beam. The old guys insisted on genuine fire resistive: with poured concrete protecting the steel beam. Sure it added weight, and in a 105 story structure may have posed a considerable engineering challenge. But if the industry had used their brains instead of their wallets to come to a decision; at least in the case of the WTC, true fire resistive would have bought the occupants (sadly, victims) more TIME to get out of the place

As I write this, there are only 3 comments posted here, but the RE RE RE RE RE suggests many prior comments. Were they censored ? technical glitch ? what ???

Confused – I’ve noticed that happens more than you would think on this site. I wish those people would repost. I’m curious how this thread went from the subject of the article back to Katrina.

There were many prior posts with racist undertones. There was one original post regarding the involvement of the government in 9-11 followed by an off-topic post regarding New Orleans. It all went down hill from there.

Any inappropriate and offensive comments are removed from the comments; no use to repost. While I think the IJ tries to protect freedom of speech and allows us to all post, they have to be cognizant of the liability involved in allowing such hateful (and unintelligent) posts to remain on their site.

That’s all I really needed, just a quick summary. I’ve seen people post pretty racist stuff on here, and well, can’t say I’m disappointed to see it be deleted.

I’m not going to substitute them but I will include them…many of the locals did a terrible job as well.

But you’ll have to excuse my post a bit…I was trying to play the character of Kanye West. Just like the poster before me was playing the part of Rosie O’Donnell. You would have seen that except all posts before mine were deleted.
