Am I missing something here or does there still have to be consideration given by BOTH parties for a contract to be valid?

Maybe this is the start of a new marketing strategy. Can I give away a “free” Homeowners policy if I convince a client to buy an Auto policy from me?

Agree about consideration, there HAS to be some. Is this another one of Spitzer’s faux-pas? Or does it not apply to him anymore since he has moved on?

Why are you even bringing up Spitzer in regards to this matter? Do you think that he controls Harleysville Insurance? Get real! The policy is free to the homeowner for a year; it doesn’t mean that no consideration was shown somewhere. Harleysville probably showed a transfer of funds from one budget area (perhaps, from their Public Relations Dept.?) to the Homeowners policy to reflect premium paid.

Real intellignet, “Get a Life”. Do you think that there may have to be consideration on both the part of the First Party and on the part of the Second Party? Where is the consideration on the part of the insured?
