“aggressive drivers” is too nice a term for immature, inconsiderate, ignorant, morons who drive like maniacs. Unfortunately, they rarely get caught in the act and manage to cause harm to others while they speed away. It would be interesting to know how many citations were given in the past 3 years for aggressive driving in D.C. Police are too busy meeting their ticket quotas for speeding and parking to waste time profiling aggressive drivers. Just take a spin on I-270. You’ll see signs warning about profiling aggressive drivers, but no police enforcing the message.
If the situation is to change, the problem needs a mulit-pronged solution starting with “aggressive” enforcement by police and a “zero tolerance” standard for jerks. Then, our gutless judges need to impose fines and jail time for violators. Then, insurance companies need to penalize anyone receiving a citation for aggressive driving. Sound draconian? Maybe it’s time since nothing else has worked.
