If only we could blame OPEC… oil prices are DOWN globally. Pick your poison… ecto-terrorists and tree-huggers for blocking new refineries or gas companies for not building them (or for doing maintenance in peak season). This time it\’t not OPEC\’s fault.
I just hope the oil companies lube up first and tell me I\’m pretty after they\’re done with the raping we\’re getting.
Honestly, why are they stopping with teens? While a cell phone is a great convience, too often the people using them are paying more attention to their conversations than to the road.
The joke though about the law is that it is going to be all but impossible to enforce. If a teen sees a police car don\’t you think they will drop the phone until they are past? And if they are in a wreck, do you think they will admit to have been on the phone at the time of the accident?
You know why this is only aimed at teens? Because it won\’t impact the lawmakers\’ driving habits. Why make a law that will inconvenience yourself? I guess once you have been driving for over 180 days, you\’re a good driver, even when talking on the phone (sarcastic).
I agree that this legislation should apply to ALL drivers.
Don\’t need to thank Uncle Sam, thank OPEC for the screwing we get. And don\’t forget the oil companies with record profits from the sale of oil, not ROI/ROE.
Unfortunately the real people to blame for the high price of gas is ourselves. Do yourself a favor and take a look at when the last refinery was built in this country. If memory serves me right, it was back in the late 60\’s. We don\’t have the refining capacity and the reason for it is the \”not in my backyard\” attitude most everyone has.

Next up, Maine plans to prohibit teens from thinking about sex while driving.

Good try but probably a useless law.

Eventually no driving laws at all will be necessary because we\’ll be on bike or on foot.
Even if my son mowed every law for a 10-mile radius, he won\’t be able to afford fuel by the time he\’s old enough to drive (3 short years from now).
$4 a gallon. Oh goody. I can\’t wait! Thanks Uncle Sam!

Saw a breakdown on the price of gas the other day.
Crude = $1.43
Refining = $1.07
Taxes & Distribution = $0.65
Last year the cost of refining was $0.60.
