I don\’t normally bash the insurance industry but to me the health insurance carriers are pirates.
My best friend died in 1991 when her health insurance carrier denied to pay for a bone marrow transplant. After her and her husband got attorneys involved they finally relented and approved the treatment. By that time it was too late to have it done and she passed away. What is really ballbusting about the whole thing is she was employed by ALLSTATE and they provided the health insurance. She sure was in good hands.
At the time and in Florida it was one of Allstate\’s companies.
And even if it was Aetna or whoever, her employer, Allstate did not want to do anything to try to help one of their own employees. Her father was a retired Allstate claims adjuster for over 30 years and her husband worked there as well.
It is also not just Allstate. They take your money each month and then try to deny coverage or procedures. You have to fight tooth and nail to get your benefits. Health insurance premiums are no small potatoes. I pay roughly $600 a month for myself and my husband and neither of us has any health issues. Knock on wood.
If you feel that the health insurers are pirates just waiting to deny your claims when you present them, why pay for the insurance? After all health insurance is not legal requirement; you could roll the dice, take the gamble and save yourself $600 a month!
