I guess the theory is that the seats are designed with high backs filled with shock absorbant so that seatbelts are unnecessary. Also, over the shoulder seatbelts wouldn\’t work in busses and lap belts only are known to cause severe abdominal injuries. Combine this with the fact that busses are much larger than most other vehicles on the road, and I guess people just didn\’t think it was a worthy idea.

    Draw your own conclusions….

I think the Journel should send the comments to Corzine but I wonder if he can actually read..
Maybe, it would bring that imbecile down a peg or two, or three.
But I question those in NJ that voted him in?? Curious.

It’s all Bush’s fault. If we had a President who was not the devil incarnate we would not have people so frustrated that they completely forget their duties as citizens. Then this would never have happened. We have to lay the blame on President Bush. Isn’t that right, Rosie?

Why is there a seatbelt law? To protect us! The consequence of not wearing a seatbelt is a ticket if you get caught or worse if you are not wearing one in an accident. Corzine suffered the consequences of his own actions (or failure to act). Why would anyone in their right mind look to a politician for example. Just take one look at the U.S. Congress to get an idea of how absurd that suggestion is!!!

Just curious – is the Highway Patrol going to consider disciplining this officer for speeding and for not assuring that the front seat passenger in the car he was operating (on official business) was complying with traffic laws?

This is good. In most states unless the police actually observe the law being broken they can not give a ticket.

Sad that the top elected state officail is a role model of what NOT to do.

I\’m sure the gov blew off any requests the driver made about wearing his seat belt, and probably threatened to fire him too. He got what he deserved.

Nobody has brought up the subject of the med bills for this incident. sounds like the bills will be in the high tens of thousands, good chance over $100k. Don\’t know what the health plan/auto coverage insurance for state employees is in N.J., but the bottom line is the good \’ol taxpayers on on the hook for a might big bill. Maybe they can have the gov cover it by payroll deduction.

Perhaps the taxpayers should revolt and withhold payment of state taxes to fund the medical cost. Mr. Gov should have plenty of his own funds to handle it.

Sorry, but we had a liberal reference in the second post in this comment thread already. Nice try, but you\’ll have to be more quick with your comments. .

    Maybe tomorrow.
