So, if it isn\’t \”mandatory\” to wear a seat belt in NH, and someone were injured in an accident shouldn’t the law have a caveat that reads:

“If an “adult” chooses not to wear a seat belt and is injured in an \”accident,\” an insurance carrier has the right to \”choose\” not to pay for injuries arising out of such an incident as the injuries were not caused by an \”accident,\” but rather a conscious decision…Hospitals should have the \”choice\” to provide low budget services to keep their costs down – Moreover, for those \”killed\” in the crash — their premiums are fully earned and not subject to cancellation. Problem solved…

Let them live free or die… just don\’t make the rest of us pay for their ignorance or arrogance – I\’m not sure which it is at this point.

    It\’s a simple mathematical excercise.

NH doesn\’t have a mandatory seatbelt law, and their usage is lower than other states.

Does that translate into higher claims and more disability payments?

If so, then the law makes sense.

If you can\’t prove that, it\’s just totalitarianism.

Not only do people drive without seat belts they also drive uninsured because auto insurance is not mandatory in NH! If you don\’t have collision and UM and you get hit by one of them you are lucky to collect $15 per month in restitution based on court ordered payment plans! Personally I don\’t think we should pay for injuries to any adult who does not use a seat belt or motorcycle helmet. If they die…fine… if they are injured…well they can just pay their own bills.

It amazes me that people still need a law to tell them to wear a seat belt. How often do you hear a news report give a count of how many accident victims survived because they were wearing a seat belt? All you ever hear is \”the victim died, he/she was not wearing a seat belt.\” C\’mon people, wake up!

It amazes me that people think making a law to govern, mandate, and protect everyone from everything and control every aspect of life is necessary. Stop passing stupid laws that infringe on everyone\’s rights!

You\’re an adult, if you\’re too stupid to know that smoking is bad for you then smoke up. If I own a business and don\’t want your cigarette smelling money in my establishment I\’ll ban smoking. If you\’re too stupid to know wearing a seatbelt (or helmet) may save your life then sign up for your Darwin Award.

But, if your choices directly result in your injury you don\’t sue… you deal.

Why should I be told what to do. I\’m a tax paying adult. I have the choice to refuse a life saving surgery because by law i am allowed to make my own choices regarding my health. So why should I be forced to wear this \”life saving\” device that may or may not help me in an accident. I am not saying a selt belt doesnt help but in some causes it can hurt you. So the state may be making you wear a selt belt that could cause you serious harm. the state shouldnt make choices for you. I can make them myself. just cause you dont wear your seat belt doesnt mean your driving up cost. I know people that have insurance and wear there seat belt and get into little fender benders wear the paint barely gets scuffed and they take an ambulance to the hospital and get there car towed to the shop have every cop and fireman in town on scene and go to rehab for no reason at all. They are the ones that drive up cost. It shouldnt be about money its about freedom the same freedom that makes us Americans.

You are absolutely right! To hell with people telling me what to do!!! Stop signs? Screw \’em! I\’m an adult and can decide for myself when to stop and when not to. Speed limits? Those are for wimps! If you can\’t safely drive 55 in a residential area, that\’s your problem, not mine. And if you do live in that residential area where I drive 55, and you don\’t like it, move! Street signals? How dare you tell me to stop and let other people go??? I am so tired of my personal freedoms being taken away, I say let anarchy reign!!! Hell, why stop there?!?! Why pay taxes? I earned that money, it\’s mine, why should I give it to the government?

Yeah, I can really see how making you wear a seatbelt really is taking away your personal freedoms.

by driving on the wrong side of the road and blowing red lights and doing anything like that would be dangerous and making it dangerous for everyone else but not wearing your seat belt doesnt effect anyone but me. that just goes to the attitude that if you dont wear your seat belt means your scum and a horrible person. and for anyone who thinks if you get into an accident without a selt belt on makes it more likely to lose control of a vehicle they have never been in an accident

Tell me how does a selt belt law help because if it doesnt help why should we have it and dont say it can save your life because it can kill you to. you dont make laws because of chance so if you have a good reason a really good reason let me know
