Everybody wants insurance companies to pay for lots of things…why not assess Westinghouse or General Electric for fire responses when a dryer causes a house fire? Or better, why not assess Oil companies because after all they provide the fuel that powered the auto that caused a major traffic accident? It\’s obvious to me that you do not understand what insurance is intended to cover, losses that are contemplated in the rates, what coverage is paid for and provided. If you want to advocate a plan like this, don\’t complain when YOUR rates are increased.

Mark Harbison found out about Radnor Township\’s safety-service user fees the hard way.

The Haverford attorney made the unwelcomed discovery after being involved in a minor traffic accident on Sproul Road in October.

No one was injured and damages were minor; a police car appeared on the scene as drivers were exchanging information. The officer stayed only four or five minutes, according to Harbison.

So Harbison, a member of the Citizens Ad Hoc Haverford State Advisory Board, was surprised to get an invoice in November in the amount of $333.20 to be paid to Radnor Police for services provided as the result of a motor-vehicle accident. The invoice was generated by Cost Recovery Corp. of Dayton, Ohio.

CRC, Harbison later learned, is in the business of \”helping municipalities recoup costs associated with safety-services departments.\” The funding approach began in 1999, with CRC helping towns \”recover costs\” for non-EMS fire-department safety services. CRC added police accident-response fees to its repertoire in 2004. Radnor signed on as a client last year.

    Welcome to Radnor – NOT!!!

I live right down the road. Radnor is on the mainline of Philadelphia, very upscale. They hardly need to subsidize their police force with this fee. A single home in Radnor, bare minimun would be over 500k.
