I\’m not from VA, but if they are trying to reduce the fine for not wearing a helment are they trying to increase the fine for idiots drving on thier cell phones? don\’t know if its illegal there yet or not, but to me if you ride its your choice to wear a helmet or not. its your head that will be smashed if you hit something. Let those who ride decide!

Yes, go ahead and ride without that helment, after all, you are dead and left your family to sue everyone and their dead brother due to your idioacty of riding without one. Of course, the family will find ways to make \”not your fault that you rode without a helment\” lets sue the state of VA and all the other carriers and people who drove by on their cell phones.

Sure, if every one wasn\’t so sue happy in the USA and more people would just man up and accept what they did it wouldn\’t be as bad. i agree helmets save lives, but you got guys who have fought in Vietnam, the gulf wars and even some WW2 vets who don\’t ride with a helment and they are fine. i wouldn\’t dare tell one of those guys what to do. they earned the right to do what they want. Living in DE and PA you don\’t have to wear one.

its the idiots on cell phones looking at it and dialing while they drive that drift into another lane and cause the casual biker to go flying off the road. most of the time its not the bikers fault. when\’s the last time you DIDN\’T Hear a motorcycle go by? oh wait you where on your cell phone and not paying attention.

So how does reducing the fine help the Literary Fund? Seems a reduction from $250 to $25 is a bit drastic. How about somewhere in between? Do they actually cite the offenders or is it just another law to fill up the books?

Chris, I hear what you are saying. I live in Colorado, no helmet law. I ride. I wear a helmet. But that is not the point I choose to, and I don\’t condemn those who don\’t. I also don\’t condemn those addicted to their cell phone, or people who drive SUV\’s, or people who smoke. Maureen you can\’t sue a State. If my family sued the jackass who ran me off the road they would do that regardless of what I had on my head. Helmets make the diference in open or closed casket, everyone knows that. Pretty soon you people are going to legislate how many times a day I can take a dump. What are we fighting for in Iraq? I forget!

I couldn\’t agree more. When I grew up, if you were in an accident without a helmet, that\’s what you get when you decide to ride. But the families who are left to care for a vegetable are the ones who started this lawsuit crap which made helmet laws necessary. The first lawsuit of this nature should have gotten tossed and we wouldn\’t be even talking about this. As for cellphones, I think they are a more serious threat to EVERYONE on the road, regardless of what you are driving. If you need to talk, stop the car. No one NEEDS to be conducting business while driving; and no one has anything that damned important to say that it can\’t wait until a better time and place to say it…..I don\’t care if you\’re Warren Buffet or Carl Icahn, if you\’re on a business trip, take a break. If you need to gab, get off the road!

I can\’t tell if \”ride free and die\” just hates motorcycle riders, or if he was the boy in the bubble I saw on TV years ago. Does he think the only thing in life that is remotely dangerous is riding a motorcycle? Does he hate mountaineering? What about skydiving? Skiing? Air Travel? Sex? Driving an auto? Eating transfats? All I can say to that is everybody dies sometime. They way you live it will seem like you lived forever, I guess!
