Merchant\’s brings back memories. I began my career with them in the late 70\’s. Underwriting Trainee under Bill Bowers in
    Buffalo.

Anyone on the where abouts of JF Ryan?
    Larry Thompson? Michael Gorman? Anyone?

I had this company but they are a loser company that has nothing great to offer. I see the ratings people think the same.

Why don\’t you substantiate your claim with some details? You may be the only disgruntled agent out there; so please expound further so we know what you mean.

I am a competitor of Merchants Group- have been for 20+ years working for both large stock and regional mutuals in Upstate/Western NY. The past 5 years have been a boon to super-regionals such as National Grange, Peerless, Selective, Harleysville,Preferred Mutual and the company that I currently work for. Plenty of profitable business out there as the national stock carriers have off-loaded entire classes of business that they underpriced and misclassed. The super-regionals saw this as a growth opportunity, took advantage of relationships and grew profitably. Merchants missed this period entirely.
