Main Street America Adds Free ID Theft Coverage to Home Policies

The Main Street America Group is providing its homeowners policyholders with free identity theft resolution services should they fall victim to identity theft.

The insurer is partnering with Identity Theft 911, a provider of identity theft resolution services and education. The complimentary new service will be included with Main Street America’s Identity Fraud Expense Coverage Endorsement, which offers up to $15,000 of coverage to pay for the expenses incurred by insureds as the result of identity fraud.

“Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States, and millions of individuals become victims each year,” said Bill Anderson, Main Street America’s senior vice president, insurance operations. “We feel it is critical to take proactive steps to provide assistance to our insureds should they become victims of this heinous crime.”

In addition to receiving a personal advocate at Identity Theft 911 to work one-on-one with the impacted insured, other highlights of the new services include:

– Access to proactive educational materials at idtheftmsagroup.com.
– Placing credit file fraud alerts with all three major U.S. credit
bureaus.
– Completing the Federal Trade Commission Fraud Victim Affidavit.
– A full year of credit monitoring and fraud monitoring.
– All services apply to immediate family members.

The ID theft protection program will be available in all states where Main Street America writes business, excluding Florida.

Main Street America’s Identity Fraud Expense Coverage Endorsement provides up to $15,000 of coverage to pay for expenses incurred by policyholders as the result of identity theft. Coverage highlights include lost income if the person has to take off from work to deal with the situation, expenses to correct a policyholder’s credit rating and certain legal fees, as well as postage, phone and shipping fees.
