OneBeacon Increases Options for Conn. Homeowners

May 23, 2006

Connecticut consumers and agents have a new option for insuring homes and belongings from OneBeacon Insurance.

OneBeacon’s new homeowners policy is part of the company’s Web-based OneChoice suite of products, which also includes auto insurance for Connecticut drivers.

Agencies will process OneChoice business through OneBeacon’s Web-based rating and policy issuance system. In addition, they will find these products on the following comparative rating systems: QuoteWorks, Priority Data, SETWrite and EZLynx.

With OneChoice Homeowners, OneBeacon Insurance is delivering protection for the dwellings, personal property, and liability needs.
OneChoice Homeowners covers losses from fire, theft and other common hazards, paying the necessary extra living expenses (up to limit for this coverage) to stay elsewhere temporarily if necessary.

Replacement cost coverage for belongings pays the total cost to repair or replace them at today’s prices – with no deduction for age or wear and tear.

Renters and condominium owners can take advantage of OneChoice Homeowners to safeguard their clothing, furniture and other personal belongings; and condo owners will also receive protection for permanent fixtures or any modifications or improvements they make to their home.

John McGuire of the Ferguson & McGuire Agency in Wallingford, Conn., likes what he sees. “I would say it’s a great new product that OneBeacon has come out with,” said McGuire. “I will certainly recommend it to many of my clients.”

Dan Bridge, head of the company’s Personal Lines New England, said improving technology for its agencies is an important piece of OneBeacon’s strategy.

“We’re focused on delivering competitive products and pricing, continually enhancing our technology for true ease of doing business, and investing in our people so our agencies partner with top talent,” said Bridge. “That enables us to be consistent and stable, yet sufficiently entrepreneurial to create opportunities for our mutual success.”
