April 4, 2006

The Professional Insurance Agents of New Hampshire Inc.’s 2006 Annual Conference will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the Marriott Courtyard and Grappone Conference Center, Concord, N.H.

More than 100 insurance agents and other industry professionals are expected to attend this statewide event.

“Highlights of the day-long event include networking opportunities, education sessions and a keynote address by the New Hampshire Insurance Commissioner Roger Sevigny,” said Tod O’Dowd, CIC, president of PIANH. “The commissioner will provide conference attendees with an insurance industry update and report on his office’s activities and agenda during the event’s luncheon.”

The Annual Conference also offers the chance to choose from three different continuing education courses. Participants will have access to the following seminars:

Errors & Omissions—Down and Dirty. 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Robin Federici, CPCU, AAI, ARM, CPIW, will define errors and omissions in today’s insurance world and lead participants through a comprehensive overview of E&O loss exposure. Participants will learn how checklists offer value beyond E&O prevention and how to help their agency develop an internal procedure that enhances traditional E&O loss control systems. This class has been approved for three NHCE hours (producer, multiline claims adjuster and public adjuster). It also has been approved for E&O loss prevention credit by Fireman’s Fund and Utica Mutual. Call the PIA E&O Department for details at (800) 424-4244.

Flood Coverage. 9-10:30 a.m. Marshall D. Katz, CIC, will discuss the three conditions that define floods for insurance purposes. He also will identify six reasons to cover them; the seven types of structures eligible; recommended office procedures and more. He also will help insurance professionals understand the key points of the standard and preferred programs, including: exclusions, deductibles, contents coverage and the increased cost of compliance. This class has been submitted for NHCE hours.

The Role of the Insurance Agent or Broker in Disaster Recovery Planning. 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. A nationwide survey indicates fewer than 30 percent of small- to medium-sized businesses have a disaster recovery plan ready for their organizations. J. David Ferris, Ph.D., CPCU, ARM, will help participants discover their roles in developing effective disaster recovery plans. This education session provides advanced agents and brokers with the opportunity to bring clients a much needed service and will cover effective risk assessment, asset identification, impact analysis, sources of recovery financing and the agent/broker’s role in financing the cost of recovery. This class has been submitted for NHCE hours.
