I’d have to agree with Dad on this one. The rise in gas price makes it very hard for young teenagers to pay just to drive back and forth to school. Many high-schoolers have very busy school careers and do not have the time to work. This law could easily be limited to a shorter timeframe, a year is just excessive and unneeded. Maybe it could apply to teens who already have a moving violation. Dad was right about too many drivers also. It’s already hard enough to find space in high school parking lots and this just creates more traffic of teens on the road.

This is the most stupid law I’ve ever seen. Now we will just have more cars with inexperienced drivers on the road since they can’t car pool. The parking problem at the school will be much worse too. Thanks to our idiot law makers who don’t live in the real world. Dopes! All they really care about is getting re-elected and “looking good” to constituents who don’t think things through.

This is a problem that affects young drivers virtually everywhere in the world. Being encouraged by passengers to show off has resulted in the death of many teenagers and other innocent road users.

In the Uited Kingdom insurance ompanies are working with the UK Department for Transport on a review of the licensing rules for young drivers – the new RI rule is one of many being looked at.

Recently in my city a 17 year old had 3 underage drivers in the car with him. He ran off the road and overcorrected (due to lack of inexperience) and I am sure some of the kids(all under 16) probably yelled at him. He hit a truck head-on and killed all of them! Now STUPID this could have been your child! How do you think you would feel knowing 4 kids were killed because you think this law is stupid. This law should be applied to all states!

Being on the investigative end of the claim process and seeing the number of young drivers involved in auto accidents because of inexperience or the fact that young passengers are influencing the inexperienced driver’s decision, I feel this law should be applied to all states. Dad, think it through long term and save a life!

We have decided to have our son continue taking the school bus and limit his driving to work or on trips elsewhere with us in the car. We plan on continuing this until he reaches age 18. It takes at least that long for a young driver to develop enough experience. I would rather my son be mad at us for this and be inconvenienced by having to go with him when he needs to go somewhere than lose him. We also are not going to allow him to ride in other kids cars. Our small town has lost more than 20 kids in the past 3 years due to auto accidents where the driver was under 18. I feel very strongly that the minimum driving age (alone) should be 18 with the learner permit period of two years. Ask any parent who has lost a child due to an inexperienced driver and you will soon see how trivial things like parking and gas prices really are.

if you really feel that this is help then i guess you have to do what you think is best, however there are may young people that will disagree and disobey so think before you make it official

I have been reading this article and all of these comments and have come to a conclusion that adults are very wrong about this. I am 16 and have my licence and I drive safer than almost all the adults out there. When I am driving down the road I am going the speed limit however I see all these supposibly mature driving adults passing me at about 8-10 miles over the speed limit, I see adults passing stopped buses and I almost got in a wreck because of an adult getting impatient with a teenage driver and tried to pass him going 10 miles over the speed limit coming straight at me I had to swerve on the grass to avoid him. Now they may give us all these lectures and things about how teens are very unsafe drivers but the truth is that the adults are the ones who are the unsafe drivers. Who do you see using their turning signals all the time the teenagers not the adults, and we go the speed limit not the adults. So due to all this information I think that the adults need to look at their own driving before they critisize the younger people and then go public with it. You need to look on the road and see how many adults drive crazy and unsafe. Just because we are young and we do not have as much experience as adults does not mean a thing. Because we have all driving information and laws in our heads but the adults just forget about them the older they get. And the reason we drive at a young age is so we can get experience in driving and go places when we have to so we do not ruin everyone elses plans and I personally think that it is wrong to hold teenagers back from that. So read this information before you critisize because you might just take a second look at things. Thank You
