Md. Auto Fund Employee Charged with Fraud

Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced the filing of felony insurance fraud, attempted felony theft and conspiracy charges against Deborah J. Odum of Annapolis.

Odum, 51, is presently employed in the Imaging Department of the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund. The charges follow a joint investigation by the Insurance Fraud Division of the Maryland Insurance Administration, the Maryland State Police and the Office of the Attorney General.

In a three-count criminal information filed in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, Odum was charged with reportedly submitting fraudulent medical bills totaling approximately $2,000 to State Farm Insurance in support of an automobile accident claim.

If convicted, Odum could face up to 15 years in prison on each felony count. No trial date has been set.
