This doesn’t build a lot of confidence in the security of the military bases and care of explosives. Where were the military police, officers in charge and homeland security?
Perhaps they should stop worrying about our nail clippers at the airports, and work on the important stuff.
Shut up, stupid.
Funny thing about soldiers you trust them with dangerous weapons. There is not a correlation between grenades and nail clippers. If you take the weapons out of soldiers’ hands, so they don’t hurt each other or themselves. Then when the enemy attacks, their weapons are locked up. Leave the war fighting to the professionals and you stick to nail clippers.
Talk about stupid. If brains were dynamite you couldn’t blow your nose.
What the hell was someone doing stealing a 47 pound bomb? Where the hell was the military policy and homeland security while he was stealing this stuff?
The real answer is the system breaks down when people are dishonest. There is a strict system of checks and balances that should prevent pilferage of these items. The article implies the bomb was military, however it could easily have been something the guy made himself. There are supposed to be two people in charge of arms rooms at all times (when I was in 10 years ago that is), therefore no ONE dishonest person could supposedly remove weapons.
Bottom line – if this was a military “bomb”, he had help or the negligence of others letting him get it out. That is a risk when you have long-time, trusted employees in any business.
That said, the nail clippers never were a weapon any more than cigarette lighters! I found and still find it comical that they search airline captains. Tell me, what happens if he walks on with an uzi?? Takes over control of the airplane…and he’s on it to do what in the first place?
