November 12, 2004

New Jersey-based Selective Insurance Group Inc. announced a $60,000 donation to the American Red Cross, in support of relief efforts resulting from the 2004 hurricane season.

James McLain, Selective Insurance Group senior vice president and chief claims and personal lines officer stated, “Our insurance adjusters and claims specialists have been working hand-in-hand with customers and agents to repair the damage caused by a series of weather events in August and September. However, we believe it is also important to open our hearts to those who may not have the support they need during such a challenging time.”

Selective’s donation will be targeted to American Red Cross chapters in many of the communities where Selective customers, employees and agents live and work, including: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

Added McLain, “Our agents and customers count on us when their homes and businesses have been damaged. Local communities count on us to take a leadership role when the chips are down and our neighbors need a helping hand. Selective is committed to providing that support in every way possible.”
