Wow…if there was a medical director, and radiologists were reading the mri’s what is the real nature of the violation?

It is nice to see a carrier fighting fraud. Here in Texas Allstate won a several million dollar verdict against a chiropractic group, for among other things, unneccessary MRI tests. That may be the case in New Jersey also.

there is nothing wrong when a company scans people and the doctor reads them. it’s just another way for the insurance companys to get over on the public .there way to try and get over on the working people .who do an honest days work 4 a honest days pay ..if the doctor reads the films what could be the problem.. the problem is they just DONT LIKE TO PAY.

As someone who is both a health care provider and insurance fraud investigator i can respond to Wayne by stating that although some insurance companies certainly try to avoid paying claims, in their defense the amount of abusive and unncessary MRI evaluations is staggering. i have examined patients who present MRI evaluations of 5 separate regions of their body (5 x $800-$1,000) and when they are questioned admit that 2 or 3 of these regions were never symptomatic…i have viewed some of these MRI evaluations and read the report generated by the radiologist and am wondering if he even looked at the same films that i am seeing. Therefore, there is plenty wrong with just assuming that because the service is rendered that everything is on the up and up….thousands and thousands are spent on unnecessary testing….now look at your insurance premium

    what took Allstate so long??????????
before $1.00 is paid for a claim, why aren’t license requirements, etc. reviewed, checked, and if necessary, rechecked to prevent such abuses.
this is what contributes to our premium increases and problems with legitimate claims being paid.
