I am not sure what state this article is talking about! Surely it is not NJ,USA?!

I have been an agent for decades and will personally attest that the auto insurance marketplace in MY NEW JERSEY is about as messed up as could possible be.

Consumers have to shop, plan, call, and almost bend over backwards to even get a quote for auto insurance. Insurance companies even tell policyholders to plan for 4 months proir to switching insurance carriers.

It was so bad the state lowered the points for the assigned risk plan (NJPAIP)to 7 points to force cariers to insure BY LAW NJ drivers needing car insurance.

I would like to add also thousands of agents have had their binding authority stripped by carriers and it is impossible to get another company appointment without promising to cherry-pick your clients and churn them to a new company IF they grant you an appointment to bind.

I would love to live and work in the NJ mentioned in the article. Sounds like government published camapign speech.

Rock On with this funny article

Insureds are waiting in line to buy.

I AM CONCERN THAT GEICO INSURANCE COMPANY IS TAKING PEOPLE WITH HIGH RISK OUTSIDE THE NJPAIP NETWORK. WHOEVER ALLOWED GEICO TO GO OUTSIDE THE NETWORK AND TAKE PEOPLE WITH MORE THAN 7 POINTS. GEICO IS IN THE POOL IN OUR NEIGHBORING STATES, WHY ISN’T IT IN THE POOL IN NJ. IF PRODUCERS GO OUT OF BUSINESS BECAUSE OF THIS, WHEN GEICO BEBGINS TO EXPERIENCE HIGH LOSS RATIOS AND BEGINS TO PULL BACK WILL THERE BE PRODUCERS STILL IN BUSINESS TO HELP THE PEOPLE. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO HELP THE PRODUCER IN THE INNER CITY AREA. REMEMBER GEICO IS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF NEW JERSEY, WORKERS LIVING OUTSIDE OF NEW JERSEY. THERE ARE NO AGENTS OR PRODUCERS. GEICO ALSO BINDS POLICIES ON THE INTERNET? ARE OTHER COMPANIES ALLOWED TO DO THIS? WHEN I CALLED THE DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE TO ASK HOW THIS COULD BE I WAS TOLD THE GEICO COULD DO ANYTHING THEY WANTED TO. ARE OTHER COMPANIES ALLOWED TO DO THIS. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST GEICO, I KNOW THE GREAT DIFFICULTY PEOLPE HAVE BEEN HAVING GETTING INSURANCE AND GEICO IS HELPING, BUT I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE WITH THE INTEREST OF THE PEOPLE NOT JUST TO SHOW A COMPANY HAS ENTERED NJ MARKET. COMPANIES WITH THE NJPAIP HAVE REPORTED TO ME THAT THEY ARE LOSING MANY PEOPLE, POLICIES BEING CANCELLED BECAUSE GEICO IS PICKING THEM UP. IT SEEMS GEICO HAS AN AVERAGE OTHER COMPANIES IN NEW JERSEY DO NOT HAVE. BINDING POLICIES ON THE INTERNET, NOT SEEING THE ACTURAL SIGNING OF THE APPLICATION,TAKING PAYMENTS USING THE CREDIT CARD. COULD THIS BE THE GROUNDWORK FOR A MAJOR LAW SUIT OF UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. I COULD GO ON BUT THESE ARE SOME OF MY CONCERNS ABOUT AUTO INSURANCE IN NEW JERSEY. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE AN ANSWERS?

NJ PAIP help is still available online, however the phone number for consumer help has changed to (856) 863-5654.

This number is for consumers only needing help with quotes and qualification by NJ PAIP Certified producers online.
