National Arbitration Forum Notes Electronic Filing for N.J. No-fault Claims

April 2, 2004

The National Arbitration Forum announced that it will provide multiple methods of electronic filing for Arbitration documents filed under the New Jersey No-fault Insurance arbitration system. The National Arbitration Forum was recently awarded the state contract for administration of these claims and begins servicing New Jersey No-fault litigants on April 16.

Electronic filing of No-fault claims and other documents is new to the New Jersey No-fault litigants and is reportedly projected to save litigants hundreds of thousands of dollars over the contract period.

According to Ed Anderson, managing director of NAF, “Law offices estimate the cost of paper handling at almost one dollar per page and mailing costs at tens-to-hundreds of dollars per case. These costs can be reduced or avoided altogether by utilizing NAF’s
online filing options.”

NAF offers litigants three options for paperless filing:
— Parties can file their documents by e-mail directly with NAF;
— Parties can go on-line at nj-no-fault.com to file their documents; or
— Parties can use E-Law electronic filing and legal delivery services, to accomplish filing and service of their documents.

NAF will present a seminar on the use of electronic filing on April 8, in Somerset, N.J. Contact Lesley Anne Seale at 732-271-6100 for more information.
