I have medicaid, I went to MacCormack Agency in Somerset, NJ. They told me that that is not the right medicaid, that I need Federal medicaid. I then went to the County Social Service Department. My Intake worker told me that I do have the right medicaid for Dollar A Day Insurance. She even called the insurance company to tell them that it is. The Insurance Company is still not going to consider me. I am a single parent of three kids working every day. I finally saved up enough money to buy a car that will get me back and forth to work so I wouldn’t have to bum rides with everyone. When I heard about the Dollar a Day Insurance back in June of 2003 I couldnt’ wait for it to come into effect. Now that it is I get the door slammed in my face. I thought this Insurance was for poor working parents trying to work to provide for their families.

There is a phone system giving info about “Dollar a day” insurance agents in a specific zip code. For Somers Point three numbers are listed:
    609-926-9892
    609-927-3400
    609-927-3557
This is an act of deception because none of these three agents actally provide this type of insurance. They dodge the issue under various reasons, as to “not having application forms as 609-927-3400”, or simply not answering calls.
I ask the state workers to delete these three numbers from the system, and provide an update with the real providers. Please inform me about a real provider.
    Thank you, Aurel

If you go to google and type in (dollar a day insurance) it will take you to a site with information about dollar a day insurance and it will give you a list of agencies that provide this insurance, for the area you live in.

this is a great sounding program until your brand new car that you worked and saved for, for a very long time is totaled by someone who has this insurance and you are stuck holding the bill. I am required by law to carry a minimum of liability to cover someone else if I hit them because I make a slight amount above poverty level. So those of us are going to have our insurance rates go up because we then have to turn all these claims into our underinsured motorist policy. NOT RIGHT AND NOT FAIR.

I was recently in an accident. While I was stopped for a school bus, a \”Dollar a day\” insured person slammed into the back of my new car. The dammage is $8,000.00 and some change. I am enduring physical therapy twice a week and I just picked my car up after 3 and a half weeks of being in the body shop. This Dollar a day policy that the other driver had is paying NOTHING for the dammages. This is an outrage that now my insurance has to pay for it and something must be done about this. Thanks a lot EX -Governer McGreevy.

this is the most foolish thing yet that nj has done. give people insurance and the right to not be held responsible if they damage someones car. the woman who hit me was drunk. she could of killed someone but now she does not have to pay ANYTHING on the $11,000.oo damage to my car. I can not even get my deductable back.I worked for that car and i am also a single parent trying to get back and forth to work and not break the law, because in nj liability insurance is a requirement, but i don’t qualify for the insurance because i did not make enough illigitimate babies? What is going on here? so let me get this straight these individuals get free medical insurance, which i pay for, free auto insurance which is high in this state for these reasons, and the right to hit, destroy and dismember whoever or whatever they want all at the expense of the victim? Thanks McGreevy we always knew you were not focused in office now we have the proof. We all know where your thoughts were.

I was also rear ended by a “dollar a day driver” actually she wasnt driving, her brother was, by himself. Do you know if this is allowed, or if only the person on the policy is allowed to drive the car. Or can you tell me of a site or number to contact someone who might know. I think they should lose the privlidge of this type of BS insurance!
