Claims Journal Editor

Successful publisher for the property/casualty insurance industry seeks a take-charge individual to be editor-in-chief for, the leading website and newsletter for property/casualty insurance industry claims professionals. This reporter/editor is responsible for producing, editing and soliciting quality news and features for this key segment of the industry. This is a remote job that requires self-discipline and motivation to be the best. It also requires being a team player, working with the company’s editorial, tech, design and other professionals to continuously improve.

Responsibilities/tasks include:
• Research, write and edit original insurance news and features as needed
• Solicit, edit and publish quality articles and columns from experts
• Arrange, produce and conduct audio and video interviews, webinars as needed
• Publish email newsletter daily
• Select, edit and post web content from newswires
• Compose headlines, select graphics
• Represent publication at and report on key conferences
• Develop contacts and relationships in the claims industry
• Deepen reader engagement and encourage feedback
• Grow readership, traffic and industry buzz
• Produce content for other Wells Media publications as needed
• Contribute new ideas and support company-wide content team

• Business journalism- top-notch researching, interviewing, writing, editing
• Networking skills
• Social media skills
• Fact checking and copyediting
• Some SEO
• Social media
• AP style
• WordPress or other content system

• Journalism experience required; minimum of 3 years; business journalism ideal
• Must have published clips and/or links
• Extra credit for property/casualty insurance industry knowledge or experience; must be willing to learn the property/casualty insurance claims business
• Trustworthy, goal-oriented, organized
• Team player
• Accustomed to meeting deadlines

Remote job; must be able to work from home; all equipment supplied.
