I am a contractor who is meeting with a state farm adjuster about wind blown shingles from the storm of July 15 2013…the day they purchased the home. Throughout the home there are windblown shingles and torn shingles. The insured has tremendous pride in their newly purchased home, they would like the entire roof replace due to the storm and the home was not damaged prior to deciding to purchase their home. Is it mandatory the State Farm replace the shingles rather that repair?
As a contractor, I will not guarantee the roof due to the condition of the shingles.
The insured feel the property will be sold for less due to this loss because they will need to disclose the damage to a new buyer when they sell it.
