Montana Subcontractors File $1.1M in Construction Liens

March 16, 2012

Ten subcontractors that worked on a new Safeway building in Bozeman, Mo., have filed construction liens totaling more than $1.1 million.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports the liens against Roche Constructors of Greeley, Colo., stem from changes in construction plans and additional work completed after subcontractors signed on to the $12 million project. Roche was the general contractor.

Officials with Safeway and Roche did not return several phone calls from the Chronicle seeking comment.

Knife River Corp. of Belgrade filed a lien claiming it is owed nearly $500,000 for unpaid work.

Dependable Paint and Drywall president Ping McKay says his company is negotiating with Roche over a $68,000 lien, while attorney Buzz Tarlow says Boulder Creek Construction of Bozeman is negotiating over a $161,000 lien.
