I’d like to know how these parents intend to explain to their child that they got their fortune because, had they known he would be disabled, they would have killed him in the womb?
I was born to an unmarried teen in the early 1950’s. Her doc gave her a megadose of DES, which was supposed to cause a “spontaneous abortion.” It did not. Instead, it left me without a left kidney, no hip joint on the left, and several deformed ribs and other organs. I was not wanted by her, so I was put up for adoption. Who will adopt a disabled child? No one!
I just celebrated my 60th birthday, and have suffered horribly every day of my life. There were no artificial joints or limbs for most of my life. To save a disabled baby for a life of suffering is an abomination, and no one should lie to another for that purpose. More and more disabled children will be orphans, and being raised by the state is NOT an option I would choose for anyone. Where are these do-gooders when the results of their “faith” needs care???
So you are saying that doctors should have the right to *lie* to their patients as long as it agrees with *your* personal politics? Perhaps you and said lying doctor should be willing to raise and take financial support for the child *after* it’s born. Or do you only concerned yourself with unborn fetuses? NOTHING justifies a doctor knowingly lying or withhold pertinent information from their patient !
If this bill shields doctors from conditions they may not have been aware of that’s one thing. If means that doctors aren’t required to tell patients of “known” problems with the pregnancy it should be shot down immediately.
I would believe it would be doctors obligation under their hypocratic oath to let patients know exactly “all” the relevant info to their pregnancy.
If this is about shielding doctors who purposely hide that info from patients because the patient may want to abort ( their right under the Constitution, Roe v Wde is the law of the land whether you like it or not) absolutely no way should this pass.
Who do these people think will take care of these disabled children? The government safety nets are being destroyed by the same folks who want more children, less health care, and fewer contraceptive choices. Who will pay for all these unwanted or ill children if born? Should a doctor lie to keep all fetuses alive at any cost – even to the mother – just based on his/her own beliefs? NO NO NO!!
This is another HORRIFIC idea pushed on us by those who think they know what’s best for us all! It’s part of a country-wide attack on women, our health-care options, our mental health including those who were raped, and our ability to decide what is best for us. NO ONE ELSE CAN or SHOULD MAKE THAT DECISION BUT THE MOTHER AND FATHER! A doctor always has the right to decline this patient, but not to lie. Any doctor lying should be criminally charged, not given this authority by a crazed senate.
This bill is not the correct way to stop wrongful death lawsuits. Why do we need to stop them if the doctor is wrong?? Let the jury system work the way it’s designed.
