I don’t understand.. First why are states allowing trucks and cars to go 80 mph and the Federal government is stating that we need to go slower and on top of that they want us to be electronically logged and cut our hours

We are becoming a nation of sheep. The Govt just keeps making rules and no one will fight them. Next we’ll all have to eat at the Golden Arches Supper Club on Tuesday because they say so. Thsi is stupid rulemaking. My truck will run 75 MPH out west and running from MD to WA every month gets damn boring. It is 442 miles from Cheyenne Wy to Lincoln Ne and there are barely any perceptable curves. You are going to ad to the boredom more and for what. Stupid people will still wreck and the number of wrecks will go up because you put everyone to sleep. Do you want sleepy drivers all over? I’m going to become a city cop where I can just legally shoot people for speeding and walking down the middle of the street.Sounds more interesting to me.

We have speed limits already. Why does big brother have to stick his nose into our freedoms on a regular basis? There is no need to hamper a drivers ability to adapt to the conditions of the road by limiting the capability to speed up if needed. This is another attempt by mental midgets to penalize everyone for the actions of a few. Keep voting for limosiene liberals and you’ll get lots more of this. Heil Obama!

The one thing that people do not see is how we are paid. As a truck driver we are payed by the mile, not by the hour. I firmly believe that reform needs to be made on this along with the proposed speed issue. You would see many more drivers falling in line with the rules. When you take away the incentive to drive faster, to get more miles to make more money, the outcome would be to every ones liking! As it would make the roads safer!!

the only reason they are trying to pass the 65 mile an hour speed limit is to put the owner operate out so these big companies can have a hold on the freight safety issue my ass need to get the your slow ass trucks doing 63 miles an hour off the fuckin hiway that’s a safety hazard all you big companies hire drivers and pay them by the mile at least give them a truck that will run with the flow of traffic

This is all communist control. I have a right to do as I see fit. I am supposed to be in a free country. I thought. All it is , is big trucking companies trying to get all of the trucks and no one else. But if you all slow down and block all lanes and get the product there late, it will all change.

I agree. Most truckers who speed only do so with very little to no traffic and visibility isn’t piss poor.

Maybe the limiters should only be if the road hgas a certain amount of traffic and visibility is below a certain level then on comes the speed limiters and while were at it how about auto braking to help drivers avoid a collision?

I’d expect a lawyer to twist the story to fit his agenda. Could it be the fact that cars have less mass then they had 20 years ago and trucks still have the same? Oh, we wouldn’t want to look at the fact that lighter vehicles, which are mandated by the EPA so they can hit the fuel consumption mark, could be causing the increase in fatalities because those people don’t carry a MILLION dollar liability… Lawyers are all worthless, and those that open their mouths usually are either politicians or money hungry, greed driven whores…

By chance I ran across this. First off, I’m not a trucker and this is just plain dumb. I see some trucks are already running slow and they do nothing but clog up traffic and pose a safety hazard. To me law enforcement needs to crack down on speeders, aggressive drivers, drunks, and stupid kids who have business behind the wheel of a vehicle. To many times I see people cutting in front of big trucks, slamming on their breaks to turn. To me this is a slime ball (lawyer) who has an agenda of his own and a once agin over reaching federal government. Trucks need to run with the flow of traffic, Trucks need to stay in the left lane unless passing. Stop allowing non-professional drivers to get tickets removed by taking driving courses. Make fines extremely stiff, put more traffic cops on the job to keep a handle on drivers and stop the over reaching federal government in it’s tracks.
