Don’t cave in DirecTV. The Weather Channel is in full panic because they know the cable outlets will also demand a huge drop in fees also. WeatherNation is better and as was pointed out, the Weather Channel is nearly half reality programming now.
I HATE the new weather provider Direct TV has. Am very seriously considering switching to DISH TV in order to get the Weather Channel back. The new weather provider is useless and doesn’t give us minute to minute up dates on weather happening. If this isn’t resolved soon between The Weather Channel and Direct TV…….Dish TV, here I come.
WeatherNation,in my opinion, is a poor substitute for Weather Channel. I like all of Weather Channel’s programming and I can always hit the “red” button to get local weather anytime. (About 2 days ago WeatherNation put this feature in.) I live in South Carolina and WeatherNation usually just skips over our state…maybe showing temps in Columbia or Myrtle Beach and that’s it! I would even be willing to a paid review channel if I could have my weather channel back! Shame on you, Direct TV!
I love their supplemental series including Prospectors. Those programs get preempted alot by any weather events anyway, plus they update the weather reports in the middle of them as well so I doubt anyone is weather deprived. Good thing I am with Frontier. Direct TV is a bit out of touch with what viewers want.
Very disappointed in Weather Nation coverage of east coast weather. Very disappointed in Direct TV taking away opportunity to learn about important weather issues. Not impressed with Weather Nation. Should this continue I would consider cancellation of Direct TV, especially since it is becoming extremely pricey.
I hate the reality shows on The Weather Channel. MTV used to be good until it was taken over by Reality TV..is this going to happen to The Weather Channel? Get rid of those reality shows and show us the weather!!!
Stick to your guns DirecTV. The Weather Channel is a joke right now, wait until the winter storms pass, and the Weather Channels starts airing reality programming 12 hours a day while WeatherNation is giving you the weather 24 hours a day. By the way, when’s the last time you saw the Weather Channel giving a forcast for California? These buffoons are actually blasting WeatherNation for giving the weather on the west coast. TWC ignores the weather except when there is a bad event, then they focus on that to suck in all the advertising. Stick to your guns DirecTV, which will make the Weather Channel go back to reporting the actual weather and/or make other providers (who want DirecTV to win) also get a good deal with TWC.
I agree with Larry. I love the weather channel but reality TV should be greatly decreased if not gone all together. If the shows are that popular, why not have a new channel for them, and keep the weather channel about weather?
Mr. Falavolito, I too am outraged, but for different reasons. As I prepared for bed I would check out Weather Channel to get weather updates before going to sleep. Much to my displeasure I would find reality shows like Prospectors, Highway to Hell, etc…..no live meteorologist.
Weather Nation gives me the information I want, when I want it. DirecTV stay strong, don’t cave.
