I would be interested in knowing what tests were conducted to determine that CO2 will penetrate gypsum wallboard. Gypsum board material is rated as an an air barrier. The more likely source will be at penetrations and boundary conditions that are not sealed.

Interesting reading but was this a peer reviewed study? If so by who? Was a Federal Agency involved or providing funding, i.e. NIOSH or OSHA? Or was this some plaintiff’s lawyer dreamed up expert type study to use in testimony at trail against drywall manufactures.

Mr.Blackburn, could you please link me to the document that states Gypsum material to be an air barrier ? The Consumer Product Safety Commission even states via an open document on Formaldehyde that Gypsum Wallboard is a re-emitter but I am extremely interested in the air barrier issue. Thank you in advance. J.Mraz.

I would just add that the American Medical Association goes to great lengths ( to my knowledge) to confirm testing i.e. results /peer reviewed, for Public Health before publishing.
