Naming winter storms is absolutely ridiculous. I know the Weather Channel wants to gain an audience but since they decided to go glitzy and become a shallow entertainment medium, they’ve lost credibility and naming winter storms is part of that Madison Avenue superficiality.

The Weather channel has gone off it’s rocker in an attempt to justify themselves and their own self image. I for one will stop watching their absurd reports.

Winter storms have always been known “as the storm of (year)” This naming of winter storms is absolutely absurd! Like hurricanes, only the big ones names are remembered and winter storms are remembered by he year.
    Stupid Weather Channel!!!!!!!!!

I don’t have a strong objection to naming the winter storms but something more ridiculous occurred in CT – the local stations began naming the storms themselves recently as well so we had both Storm Charlotte and Storm Nemo at the same time! It was comical but annoying at the same time.

I think it is absurd to name winter storms. There is no basis to how it gets named ,like a hurricanes. Hurricanes are only named when they reach a certain strength then deserved to be named… TWC wanted more attention and scared those who relate the storm names to hurricanes. The national weather service does not recognize the names of the storms given by TWC…I find it annoying.Something should be done.
