If I had Medical Set Aside-(MSA) I’d make sure I had control of it. If you had 100 K set aside and forbid something happened to you the company in charge of it would get what’s left. If I had the choice (and you do) I would put it in my name, then my family will get the remainder. Why not??

So the taxpayers foot your medical bill and you get to keep the money for yourself? I’m not okay with that. You were given money to spend on your medical bills. Why should I and other taxpayers pay for your bills?

        Hello,

I don’t think that you are correct about this. At least not in my MSA. The MSA was funded by the Insurance carrier paid for by the Employer and not anyone else. In fact it would quit the opposite. It would make the Workmen’s Compensation insurance carrier pay for all approved work injuries so that it will not fall upon the shoulders of Medicare or Medical.

Now if all of the money is handed directly to the injured person there is nothing stopping that person to run through all of the money only to have Medicare start paying for what should have been the financial responsibility of the Insurance company.

I feel that the Medicare set aside is good but needs to be available for the person that was injured to barrow from it. Knowing that before they can get Medicare to pay anything for their Injury they have to show what was set aside was spent on medical weather it was money the family put back into the account after borrowing money from the actual settlement. The way the Medicare set aside is fixed now is destroying and costing lives. It’s shouldn’t be all about the money. What about the lives of the family? The injury should not cause the split in the family. without money how can a family survive? sometime love isn’t enough. Families should not be losing their homes because the head of the house was injured on the job and can’t take care of his responsibilities. Don’t forget the family. It don’t help watching what you built for years fall apart. Something should be left for them to pay some bills off so they can live on their disability. There has to be a better way!

This is not necessary,it’s just another way for Government to steal your money. The Insurance company should notify Medicare of the injuries covered and that would release Medicare from any responsibility for said injuries. This is all so simple and is just another example of Government theft!
