Willis Adds Two to Energy Practice

Willis Group Holdings, (NYSE:WSH), the global insurance broker, announced today that Willis Energy has recruited John Giblin, who will be based in San Francisco, and Gary Shmalenberger, who will be based in Baltimore, to its North American service team. They will both report to Loyd Esler, Willis North America Energy Practice Leader.

Giblin has more than 30 years of experience in the energy insurance business. For the past 13 years, he has invested the majority of his time designing and building property programs for major integrated oil and petrochemical clients, utilizing worldwide commercial markets, OIL and alternative risk financing options. He has also designed and placed insurance programs for substantial construction projects in some of the most challenging regions in the world. Most recently Giblin was a managing director in the Marsh Marine and Energy Practice, and prior to this appointment served 17 years with Johnson & Higgins.

Shmalenberger has more than 23 years of experience in the insurance broking industry, providing innovative solutions and managing the placement of complex onshore global property programs for large clients, including specialization in the integrated oil, petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Shmalenberger joins Willis from Aon where he was a member of their National Property unit.
