Triumph Foods has reached a settlement with Missouri Gas Energy arising from a natural gas explosion during construction of the pork company’s plant in St. Joseph, Mo.
The settlement was reached hours before trial was scheduled to begin in Triumph’s lawsuit against MGE. Details of the settlement were not released.
The pork company sued MGE for $19.9 million after the 2005 explosion killed one person and delayed opening of Triumph’s plant for 62 days.
Triumph has already settled with other insurance companies, contractors and subcontractors involved in the plant’s construction.
Triumph had sought $7.9 million in damages and $12 million in profits the company lost because of the delayed opening.
