State Farm Insurance based its rankings on claims data from the last half of last year and first half of this year along with motor vehicle registration counts from the Federal Highway Administration.

The company says West Virginia is the place where drivers are most likely to hit deer, with an estimated one in 57 chance of hitting one in the next 12 months. Michigan is next, followed by Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Iowa.

Finishing out the top ten are Arkansas, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.

The state in which deer-vehicle collisions are least likely is Hawaii, with odds of just 1 in more than 16,000.
