Gas company officials say an explosion in a vacant duplex in western Pennsylvania was caused by a leak that resulted from thieves stripping copper piping in the house.
Officials with Equitable Gas say the explosion in North Braddock about 12 miles southeast of Pittsburgh forced some neighbors to evacuate their homes. There was no immediate report of injury.
Authorities say the home was vacant and for rent. They say the blast destroyed the foundation.
Allegheny County Fire Marshal, Chief Bob Full says the house could tip over at any time.
