A settlement has been reached to pay $972,000 in damages to 23 correction officers who had accused New York state of pregnancy discrimination.
The announcement was made Wednesday by the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The state Department of Correctional Services denies the discrimination claim.
The amount awarded includes back pay, interest and damages.
The state also has agreed to anti-discrimination training, as well as training on the administration of workers compensation benefits.
